When is a Dollar not a Dollar?

Today was a beautiful day in sunny little Delaware. The sun was out, the snow went away, and I, feeling adventurous, decided to take my loving family to lunch and then to the park. It true American fashion I did what any red blooded citizen does, and i hit the drive thru at the local Mickey D's along the way. one happy meal, one small coke, one sweet tea, two double cheeseburgers, and a small fry, everything from the dollar menu except the happy meal. I glance at the screen as the not so polite teller reads it back, as if she has the hardest job in the world, and notice the double cheeseburgers are $1.19.... So what gives? How can something be on the dollar menu, and cost more then a dollar? Thats like going into a Dollar Tree and being charged more then a dollar, you'd flip your lid. Or along thr same lines as the 99 Cent store at the beach... charging 1.50 for something... it just doesn't happen.

It urks me to think that a com pany can falsely advertise something, by hiding it in the guise of something called a dollar menu, but in fact charging you more. What if I'd have had exact change? The truth is I tealized something today about myself that would never have happened years ago. I've become socially lazy and inept. Years ago i would have argued this point right there int he trive thru and refused to pay the extra 19 cents, and then would have escilated the situation for months and months just to strive out on some foolharty cause, but today I just paid it, and grumbled to myself as i drove away, not wanting to get into an agrument with a retard stuck on drive thru who needs a calculator to do math and little pictures on the buttons to operate a cash register. I hate the contrariness of the society we now live in.
